Dear Student Teacher
Modern Languages Audit
I am looking forward to welcoming you to the Modern Languages PGCE programme in September 2024.
In preparation for the course, I ask you to review your subject knowledge, in the first instance looking at French. For this purpose, an audit is included for you to evaluate your level of confidence in relation to a range of lexico-grammatical features. The auditing should not take too long as this is just a matter of self-grading, but must be completed by the first subject session, which is the first Tuesday of the course. If you are offering Spanish or German as additional languages, there are audits for those too.
Please then focus on three areas about which you are less certain; research these areas to update your knowledge and make brief notes to show how you might explain the points to learners, for example in a Year 10 class. If you are producing this for two languages, do not do more than six grammar items.
For those areas, please produce notes/summaries of the key points for submission on the first subject day of the course.
All of your work, including the audit and the follow-up notes you make, need to be saved electronically; you do not need hard copies. They will form part of your Eportfolio of evidence that you will add to during the year.
Please advise if I can clarify any of the above points. I hope that you have a fruitful summer.
Yours sincerely

Stephanie Oswald
