Welcome to the Secondary PGCE course.
We hope that this site has guided you through the tasks you need to complete to get ready for Monday 2nd September, when we will be meeting you all.
Please access the subject audits Subject Knowledge Audit, Tasks and Reading Lists which you need to prepare for the start of the course.
As you start the PGCE we are sure that you are experiencing some anticipation and uncertainty about what will happen. When you start on Monday 2nd you will meet everyone involved in the PGCE, we will get to know you quickly and you will settle into the routine of university sessions and work on the programme.
Before the first day we encourage you to reflect on the reasons you wanted to be a teacher and what education is for. We spend some time in the first week thinking about the purpose of education and who we are as teachers. Keeping this in mind helps us when we start looking into the planning of lessons, managing classrooms and pupil behaviour. Very quickly (after 5 weeks) you will be going into school to start teaching with expert colleagues and learning to be a teacher.
We look forward to meeting you all on Monday and working with you during the year.
